I Have a Passion for Special Education

Hello all!
My name is Abigail Bair, although most call me Abby. I am currently entering my third year here at Fabra Elementary and I am enjoying every bit of it!
I teach in a Self-Contained, Special Education Classroom and I couldn't ask for a better career. The moment I entered my first Lifeskills classroom, I knew that I found my forever home.
​I have lived in Boerne for most of my life, so being able to now teach and raise my own children here is truly special. 
I am a wildcat at heart from Indiana Wesleyan University.
I have three beautiful children who keep me on my toes at all times. This is probably why coffee is so important to me!
​I am so excited for this next school year to watch our students blossom!

What is Special Education- Lifeskills? 

Lifeskills is a form of education that allows for students to not only learn academically, but helps the students achieve communication, functional, and social skills.
My belief is that instruction should be engaging for all students, so they want to come to school ready to learn!
In our classroom, we have not only academic goals for each child, but social and functional as well. I have a unique approach to learning through a lot of functional activities. We learn by doing and hands on experiences in both the classroom and in the students natural environment. We have monthly Community Based Instruction trips, which is critical for our students to have the learning experience in the real world.
